Today is Jackson’s 7th birthday. It’s so hard to believe. In some ways it doesn’t seem that long ago that he was just a little tiny baby. But in other ways it’s hard to even remember my life without him. It’s almost like my life really began to mean something when I became his mom. Jack is an amazing little kid. God smiled down on us and handed us a miracle baby 7 years ago today. He has been such an unbelievable blessing. I’m so proud to be his mom.
Tonight we’re having just a little mini party with us and the grandparents. Then tomorrow I’m going to pick Jack up a little early from school and take him to Houston. We’ve reserved a hotel room for two nights. Phillip’s going to meet us when he gets off work. We’re just going to spend Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday morning just doing stuff Jack wants to do. Except we’re not going to McDonald’s. We already put our feet down on that one. We’ll be going to Chuck-E-Cheese, the Children’s Museum, and I don’t know where else. We’re going to drag out the gift giving with him. We told him we’d give him two presents today, one on Friday, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday. I’m looking forward to a great weekend of hanging out with Jack and making him feel special. Phillip is going to be the designated photographer for the weekend because he needs a little practice before a wedding in 2 weeks. So there will be lots of fantastic pictures to share with you when we get home. Right, Phillip?
In case you’re wondering, Mikey will not be joining us this time. We may include Mikey in this when he’s around 4 or 5. At that time we’ll start doing these weekends with Mikey for his birthday. We’re going to have to decide if these things are going to be a full family event or just a weekend with each child. But we’ve got a couple of years to figure that out. But this year Mikey will have a blast playing at Nana and Granddad’s house.
